Lene, 19 April 1978, The Heavenly Language of Angels. Spirits of God engaged with the ascent of human beings are masters of various virtues. There are angels of love, angels of mercy, angels of hope and angels of justice. They get together quite often in order to advise one another on their tasks in the plan of salvation. Heaven speaks the language of love and hope. Human beings need hope for their daily life. Some hope for luck, others for peace and the sick hope for recovery. Hope is a source that strengthens, that helps to recover and solve problems. Lene: God bless you! Dear brothers and sisters, the realm of God is within. Believers know what this means. Unbelievers cannot find anything within; they don’t understand these words. After all, to say the realm of God is within means the soul – the light that was given by God making it possible to live. This light should shine, and this life, this realm of God that is within should be led to a source where it can be strengthened, find support, and where one can exchange views. The soul isn’t voiceless; it would like to hold conversations and receive food. It is the spirit of human beings that wishes to talk and, depending on the level of development, asks for enlightenment and conversations. It would like to receive answers to its problems or to the problems of its fellow human beings. It would like to know more about karma and, at any rate, it has many questions. Thus it’s looking for peers – I mean someone who has acquired knowledge, with whom it can exchange views, discussing things so that both benefit from it. Not that the one has to listen only to what the other has to say, rather that they stay in conversation with one another. Therefore it should be that one can put questions to the other and may still voice one’s opinion. If one has such an animated conversation with a fellow human being, the one who gains knowledge feels happy about it. After all, the realm of God that lies within human beings holds such precious values which one can express. One values an individual who one considers stands on a spiritually elevated level. Well, it isn’t always easy to recognize whether a person actually stands on a spiritually elevated level. What I’d like to tell you or what I propose we meditate on this evening is the fact that divine spirits in the spiritual realm also hold conversations with one another and, during these conversations or exchange of views, the most commonly discussed subject is humankind, its fate and ascent. After all, ever so many divine beings are engaged with the ascent of human beings. They have to take care of them and guide them. They have to ensure that what is marked in their soul will be fulfilled. They have to guide them in the beyond after their temporal existence. Thus there are many spiritual beings who are engaged with human beings and consequently many conversations are held about them; every human being has – perhaps not quite – a fate but they have a special or a personal route. And divine spirits often have questions concerning a particular person: how he is to be guided or what may be expected of him. And so, divine spirits converse with one another. Well, these conversations are held quite naturally even daily without this having to be mentioned in particular. Every human being is judged by the court; he is judged as soon as he passes away and the verdict is immediately effective. However, in the realm of God, even though the verdict has been passed and is about to become effective so that the returnee is led into purification and marked for atonement, there are nevertheless angels present. In most cases these are the guardian spirits, or it is the spirit who has accompanied this particular human being during the last years of his life, thus becoming quite acquainted with him and knowing his inner life and attitude. Now, as it is, God never punishes human beings as severely as they would deserve. The mercy of God comes into play straight away. And this is how it should be. God is merciful and full of clemency. In the heavenly world or in the high spiritual world where Christ frequently converses with his high brothers and sisters, love, justice and hope are discussed. We have told you before that there are spiritual beings who bear the name love; they are spirits of love. There are also spirits of hope, spirits of loyalty, and it is their task to embody these virtues. There is a garden in these high heavens – or, better still, a paradise, a part of paradise – with a palace or a wonderful house, a guest house. And this part of paradise or heaven is known as the paradise of love. Angels of the highest rank or highest standing meet in this place; they are called angels of love whose only task is to act in love. For their task they have a particular paradise and a house at their disposal. You will ask yourselves why this is necessary; after all, in the high heavens everything is perfect and united in the virtues. Indeed, in the high heavens each angel should be equally versed in all virtues. And yet, there are specialists or beings who are specially marked for it. To begin with, their appearance is totally different. An angel of love has a completely different appearance than an angel of punishment. The angel of love has a certain power of attraction; his being sends out rays of loveliness. His character is particularly amiable, particularly friendly and benevolent for he crowns his own love. There are occasions when these angels invite other high spiritual brothers and sisters to be their guests. This happens quite often; in fact, the angels of love – they actually represent all virtues, but love in particular – very frequently have angels of punishment as their guests, or they send out an invitation to them. Or, many even come by themselves and ask whether they could have a discussion; but mostly they’re invited. You may think: “Why?” There is a reason. Even though a deceased human being is already judged by the court which records everything, someone is nevertheless required who is merciful, who defends him if necessary. These angels of punishment are always present in court; they do not need to be summoned. They are judges and angels of judgement as well. They are the ones who particularly evaluate the returnees; they decide what is most important in his case, this or that, and their word carries great weight. Angels of judgement don’t look like the angels of love; their figure and appearance is quite different. Their countenance isn’t as attractive. One doesn’t have to be afraid of them but many feel uneasy standing in front of such an angel. In truth, this angel of judgement knows the life of the returnee, everything is manifest to him. The soul of the returnee reflects his life. After all, the question is whether to advance him one or several levels or leave him there where he is or, alternatively, whether a special punishment is required for him. The angel of judgement is the one who makes this decision. However, no human being who lives in this world will be without a spiritual and divine counsel for his defence. There are angels who take care of the returnee and vouch for him when they realize that he deserves to be upheld; when, for example, in some way or another, he has made up for something where he had failed. However, just because the angels of punishment pay more attention to the unjust events and criticize a returnee accordingly, a good deed or a particular attitude towards a human being, or something similar, may fade into the background. Therefore an angel of benevolence, of mercy or of love is needed who will rise to defend and vouch for this returnee. When angels of punishment are guests of the angels of love, the latter will try to talk to them about love, even though the former know about love as well. Nevertheless, they explain it to them and try to awaken in them clemency, benevolence and mercy. The love of the King is much discussed during these get-togethers. The angels of love also remind them that Christ, the Son and anointed of God, has great love, the same love as the Father, and that in this love one can only speak with words of love and that love is something wonderful. They also point to human beings, to their way of expression and their attitude. And these angels of love draw the attention of their brothers and sisters to the fact that heaven’s language is a divine language, and that nothing should be allowed to introduce itself into the life of human beings that doesn’t belong to the noble life of the divine spirits. Human beings have to try to acquire these feelings and this way of life; for heaven speaks the divine language which knows loyalty, benevolence, understanding, goodness – and many other virtues which I don’t need to specify further. This is the heavenly language and I don’t want to fail to mention that Christ has already pointed this out. Nevertheless, I have to say that the nether world also has its language, and its language is called envy, hatred, meanness, revenge and all evilness. This is the language that is spoken and acted upon there based on these values and feelings. This is the nether world. And if a human being gives expression in any form of hatred, injustice, dishonesty or whatever it may be, then this isn’t heavenly and isn’t the language of heaven. Thus heaven and the nether world each have their own particular language so you can recognize from which quarter human beings are guided. Do they give expression in their life to things that come from heaven or do they manifest things that come from the nether world? What is offensive comes from the nether world whereas what comes from heaven is pleasing, liberating and releasing. It is the language of heaven; this is heaven – heavenly – and this heaven should find entry to human beings. I spoke of the paradise of love to which these angels of punishment are often invited. As everyone has his problems, the angel of love tries to act in a forgiving, liberating and uplifting manner. And the spirits of punishment, who have their duties to exercise, will now be impressed by the character of these exalted brothers and sisters. The angels of punishment need to be imbued, strengthened and nourished by understanding and love; they need this. And when an angel of punishment leaves this heaven to fulfil his duties with human beings, he will remain impressed by the experience he’s had. He will pronounce his judgment correctly all the while looking more attentively at the protégé before him. Even as an angel of punishment he will show benevolence towards him; the word ‘punishment’ may be part of his name but, as an angel from the heights, he is imbued by feelings of justice. He has pledged to be just in all things and to ensure that justice is done and order is kept. This he has pledged to do; he has to fulfil his commitment. And so, everything should be paired with understanding and love. For some who are present this may be somewhat incomprehensible, and they ask themselves why a high being would need to visit such other angelic beings. They believe that a high being ought to be imbued with justice in every respect and know how he has to judge. It’s the same thing with you people on earth: a human being may also be sentenced, however, if one wishes to maintain justice in a state, a counsel for the defence is appointed for every defendant. And everything – indeed everything – that is [just and good] here on earth has originated in heaven. Therefore angels have to fulfil their duty in this way; however, they may, in many things, express and apply the loveliness that crowns them. Well, I’ve just talked about these angels because they fulfil a significant task in the plan of redemption. Yet, there are still other angels with special virtues which are of great importance as well. They, too, have a marked out place in the heavenly world where they meet at particular times. The angels of love of whom I have spoken come from all parts of heaven and gather in their paradise of love when circumstances call for it. But they don’t dwell there constantly; they return again to their homes. The same is true for these other angels who are just as important and who fulfil an equally significant task with human beings: the angels of hope. They, too, live in a heavenly paradise; they, too, invite spiritual brothers and sisters and are asked to give their advice, for hope is something that human beings need to live, like water. Life without hope, without the prospect of hope, is a miserable life. Human beings need hope for their everyday life. The sick must be able to hope that their suffering will be eased, that they may be guided so that they won’t suffer and will find empathy to help them to bear it. Hope should be like a beautiful flower that blossoms in the soul and doesn’t wither; people always need hope, perhaps not today, perhaps not tomorrow or the day after, but soon. Soon they will embrace hope. Something in their life becomes disarrayed, and they hope. Some hope for love, some for security; others again hope for a significant position in life or whatever other human desire one may have in life. Some just hope for luck; they wish for peace at home and to be happy. Perhaps they’d like to be freed from some affliction, perhaps depression; they hope to be helped. Those who are sick always hope; they have to hope, for hope is a wonderful source; a source that strengthens, that helps to recover and to solve problems – the hope not to lose confidence. And all of this is simply the language of heaven; it is just heavenly. It is only heaven that speaks of hope. Hope exists in the heavenly world, and hope has been distributed in former times of suffering [after the fall]; hope has been given. But hope came from heaven; it came from the mouth of God, just as mercy and goodness were granted out of the will of God. They became words of God: “Be kind-hearted, be merciful, be understanding, yet be just.” This is the language from above. This is heaven that functions with its angels and influences human beings. This is heavenly. Strife, dishonesty, rage, stinginess, spitefulness and imperiousness: all these are the language of the nether world which doesn’t know hope. It would never speak of true hope; it only knows lies. It doesn’t speak about hope or mercy. It spreads suffering, strife, pain, agitation. Such is the language of the nether world. Human beings are confronted with these two worlds. If they meditate on it they may ask themselves: “Whom am I talking to? With whom am I connected? What is my character like? Is my disposition heavenly or do I tend towards the nether world?” After all, one cannot serve two masters. One cannot speak the heavenly language as well as the language of the nether world. They can’t tolerate one another, for the heavenly language loves its own kind. Everything that comes from heaven is loved by everyone in heaven; the nether world loves its own kind and everything it has to give. It loves hatred, envy, jealousy. It cultivates its own kind. It becomes, then, the task of Christians to think and meditate about the fact that each loves its own kind in order to differentiate and to ask themselves where they stand – perhaps in the middle? Is there a middle? Thus, such a conversation or meditation can only serve to make a decision; a decision that comes from the depth of the soul – that the soul has to give what it possesses, what it holds in order to bring about a decision depending on its strength. People may not be successful at first; time is required. It has to flourish and develop. The first thing that is needed is insight, the realization that one acts wrongly. Then one is strengthened in will and steps towards the right path. And so, those who have gained insight won’t just have reached the middle, but the true decision. The divine world, which is forbearing, knows about the weaknesses of human beings. It knows how to evaluate the weaknesses and calls them also stumbling blocks. It all depends on the attitude of a human being, whether he lives in constant wickedness or in willingness to do and promote the good. This is what the spiritual world of God assesses. It recognizes what the inner human being really is capable of and willing to acquire. It knows his will, his strong will or his complacency, his carelessness, his flippancy, his ruthlessness. He will be graded accordingly. One can deceive human beings but not the spirits of God. If he is on his way to the spiritual heights and thinks to himself that by struggling for the truth he would be able to enter a higher world, then he should feel encouraged and, at the same time, gain further insight – courage and strength. I’ve talked now about human beings and explained the language of heaven and that heaven loves its own kind. I’ve also said that the nether world can only love its own kind. It only loves what it has to give. It would never love sincerity, loyalty, hope, goodness, mercy – never! However, beings of the nether world are willing to demonstrate what they don’t sincerely embrace. What I mean is that by means of deception and lies; they are ready to pretend something that isn’t true. Human beings have to go through the various levels of development in order to gain higher and better insight, step by step, and to have the strength to decide what is right and what is possibly wrong. After all, it is the desire of believing human beings to reach beatitude once their earthly life concludes. To this aim they can truly contribute a great deal during their earthly existence; they have so many opportunities to advance quickly. Such opportunities aren’t available once they have returned to live in the spiritual world; development there progresses much slower. If there is still time – I believe so – I’d like to talk to you now about a person who returned to the heavenly realm and was disappointed about having failed to achieve more during her life. After all, she thought she had worked and lived for heaven and thus had earned some merit but she was now told that her merits weren’t estimated as highly as she believed. Nevertheless, this returned sister asked to be given a task that would allow her to enter the heavenly heights more quickly. The situation was explained to her and she was told that she would have to stay in the heavenly world where she had arrived for a long time fulfilling her task and the work she would be given. In addition, she was also told that for the kind of quick progress she had in mind a life of dedication, sacrifice, renunciation and great achievements would be required. And she wanted to know: “What opportunities do I have? If you send me to a new existence, will it be possible for me to achieve this by making this sacrifice and giving this commitment?” “Of course”, she was told, “it is possible, no doubt. However, you still have to wait until the time is ripe for you to enter a new earthly existence.” Well, this returnee still had a connection with returned relatives with whom she had lived together in her earthly life. Therefore she asked to be brought together with her former loved ones. The favour was granted with the following explanation: “Since you stand higher than they you may visit them.” And so she was guided to her former relatives and acquaintances. Well, she found out that they weren’t particularly happy but she wanted to help them and thought that she could do so by fulfilling a significant task. The divine spirits had to tell her: “Wait a while as this bond of togetherness, which you think is still strong, will dissolve; you will meet other spiritual brothers and sisters and will hear of their problems and of their desire for spiritual ascent and for help.” And so it was. This bond of togetherness with former relatives dissolved. Our sister was a keen learner. She couldn’t ascend further to the heavens, and of the things that were above her she didn’t particularly receive much news. Instead, she got to know what was below her in the lower levels of spiritual life. That’s where she was led, to those unhappy beings; she wanted to give devotion and make sacrifices in a new human existence in order to gain access to heaven. Her attitude was good, and she was full of good will; therefore, she was taken care of. And since there are so many heavily burdened spiritual beings in these levels of ascent waiting for help, there was no lack of beings one could support. And so, this sister was guided here and there. However, an angel of God went with her to an unhappy being on purpose; one of the beings of the lower levels of ascent spoke of the burden which he brought back from his previous human existence and for which he had to atone. Our sister was impressed. She felt sorry for this being and asked: “Isn’t there an opportunity to help him?” “Of course, one can help this being”, she was told, “if you agree, we shall arrange for it to come about.” She agreed; she was very much moved by pity, and particularly in these lower levels of ascent there were so many unhappy and discontent beings. She was led to them; she wanted to help them all and asked: “Give me a task so that I can help them – I feel so sorry for him, for her ... Their life is dreadful. I’d like to help.” And the angels of God who accompanied her to these lower levels of ascent chose a number of beings and told her: “Good, we shall try to make it possible for you to help them.” Then she wanted to know: “How can I help them? After all, I cannot carry the suffering, this isolation they have to bear, this hard work they have to fulfil as well as this bondage they must carry. I cannot really help them; I can’t help them all at once.” “No, you cannot do that, but there is a way. We shall prepare you for a new earthly existence. And we shall destine all those you have chosen and to whom you have shown so much mercy and pity to be your future children. This will bring you worries.” “Well, I don’t mind. I shall face up to all the troubles.” She wanted it, and so it was ordained. She was sent into human existence, and it came about that she was allowed to start a family and have children; all of them had been marked in their soul and predetermined to come into her family, one after the other. Thus she became a mother, a plagued mother. She had her problems; big problems. After all, her children were spirits from the lowest level of ascent who displayed coldness and hardness of heart, disobedience and spitefulness in their human existence. And this mother was to deal with and carry the problems of her children all by herself, so to speak, for soon she was all alone with her children – her husband had died in a war. She was all by herself but she was a pious woman, always hopeful. She always hoped that God would give her support and strength to bear it all. After all, she was marked, and divine spirits accompanied her in life; they made sure that everything came to pass. This mother was full of good will and of a noble attitude; therefore, she received relief after a certain time. The children grew up and reached a different, a somewhat better attitude – but all this under the influence and guidance of the spiritual world of God. The spiritual world of God showed mercy and compassion; this mother-soul and her children – these spiritual beings that were sent to human existence – were given more support, more power of resistance, if I may say so, and more opportunities to gain higher knowledge. The spiritual world of God intervened, demonstrated and bestowed mercy. This had been predestined by the spiritual world of God, and this mother-soul had contributed her share. She fulfilled what had been asked of her. A certain goal had been set for her: “This much she has to fulfil. If she succeeds, we shall help her further.” Or, I may say that she had been given several tests: “If she passes these tests other things will be made easier for her.” And this is what happened. She passed the tests, and heaven was merciful. She spoke the language of heaven; therefore, this mother-soul received help and support. She enriched herself spiritually and brightened her own light. She had kept her promise and as a sacrificing, loving, understanding and affectionate mother she was an example, opening up for her children the opportunity to ascend further spiritually. The children she had chosen for life gained in this way; when they crossed over to the spiritual realm they were able to pass over levels and were liberated. After they had all returned to the beyond there was a gathering, a reception, a little celebration. The mother-soul received her reward for her achievements, and her courage was to become an example for others. Well, dear brothers and sisters, you can meditate about this and will receive answers to problems that are here or there. Therefore never give up; always hope! And remember: what is the language of heaven? Don’t despair, for hope is the language of heaven! Hope comes from heaven, and heaven loves it. And those who despair? That language is spoken in the nether world which loves its own kind. Therefore, it is left up to you to ponder on which is better to choose. After all, heaven is happy to be able to receive happy souls. And one may become happy and content when one knows and speaks the language of heaven and knows the truth that is given by heaven in the form of spiritual teaching. This brings strength and courage as well as brilliance and light to the soul. And so, heaven pays attention to those shining beings coming across. They will be approached and joyfully received. And so, dear brothers and sisters, you know I have ... [Lene makes a gesture to the time-spirit standing behind her.] Well, I know, maybe I shouldn’t have explained some things in as much depth as I did, but then I wouldn’t have touched you so deeply. I do it my way – and have already won; and that’s the way I shall continue. May God’s blessing be with you and accompany you! May God’s blessing give you strength for your life! God bless!
